Wilson, Alfonzo W., Airman 3rd Class
On August 6, 1961, Alfonzo Wilson refused to sit at the back of the bus as was customary for black riders. He was arrested after a scuffle with a police officer who was called to force him to move to the back.
Public School Integration
In 1966, black children in first grade started to be transferred into white schools, at the approval of the Prentiss County Board of Education.
Robert Swinney was the first black alderman to be elected in Prentiss County.

Goodine, Reverend Larry
Rev. Larry Goodine is the pastor of New Hope Baptist Church in Booneville, MS in Prentiss County. He is a noted civil rights speaker, having spoken at Committee for King events, and has helped in voter registration campaigns in Mississippi.
